About the Recipe
Creamy, cheesy scalloped potatoes go great with any meal. These are super easy to make.
Ingredients
8 thinly sliced potatoes. I like to use Yukon Gold
1 onion diced
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 can of milk
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
6 tbsp butter divided (2 and 4)
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
Grease a 9x13 casserole dish (I use butter)
Melt 2 tbsp butter in saucepan
Saute onions in butter until soft and translucent
Add soup and 1/2 can milk to cooked onions and mix well
Season generously with salt and black pepper
In the casserole dish, place a layer of potatoes
Top with soup mixture
Add another layer of potatoes and continue layering in that order
Top layer should be soup mixture
Dot potatoes with remainging pads of butter
Bake in 325 degree oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Begin checking 1 hour for doneness (pierces easily with a fork.)
When potatoes are done, remove from oven and top with shredded cheese
Return to oven for about 10 minutes or until cheese is hot and bubbly. We like the cheese to be a little brown and crunchy.
Serve and Enjoy!
