
About the Recipe
The name implies it all! This candy is addictive..... It is a toffee imposter and oh so easy to make!
Ingredients
1 sleeve saltine crackers
1 cup butter (2 sticks)
1 cup light brown sugar firmly packed
12 oz chocolate morsels - we use bittersweet
1/2 cup chopped pecans or any other nuts you like
Directions
Heat oven to 325 deg
Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper
Arrange the crackers in a single later on the pan
In a small sauce pan, cook the butter and brown sugar over medium low heat until melted and smooth. Be sure to stir often
When mixture is bubbly, cook for 3 more minutes while stirring constantly
Slowly pour the mixture over the crackers evenly. If the crackers float up, just use a spoon to move them back in place
Ensure all crackers are covered with mixture
Bake crackers in oven for 15 minutes
Remove from oven and sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips
Return tray to oven until chips start to melt - about 1 minute
Using a butter knife or spatula, spread the chocolate evenly over the surface of the crackers
Sprinkle with pecans
Allow dish to stand until set then place in refrigerator and chill until firm - at least 2 hours
Break crackers into pieces and enjoy!
Store in refrigerator in airtight container.
